Where have these shoes been
Where have these shoes been all my life and career?! Nurses need a pair of these STAT 😊
I am the proud owner of the new Apollo 10’s in Bone White/Tapioca Off White in size 8.5 women’s/7.5 men’s. My main reason to wear these is for shift work as a Registered Nurse. Let me tell you…if these can provide comfort during a 12-hour shift on your feet, while walking on hard, tiled, hospital floors, just think of how great they will be for everyday use.
As a nurse, I am constantly looking for supportive shoes that not only have some kind of arch support, but also have a good tread and are lightweight. After 12 hours of being on your feet, even flip flops can feel heavy, so the material of shoes worn by healthcare professionals is important. The outer material is breathable and flexible, and surprisingly stain resistant. These shoes also have a built in footbed with arch support and ankle cushioning, so no need to worry about the balls and insteps of your feet getting tired or achy. The soles of the shoes have also proven to be quite grippy on the hospital unit, which can become surprisingly slippery after a room is cleaned. Nurses also tend to go through shoes very quickly as we are bending down frequently to change bedding, help patients get out of bed and check IV lines and other items at a patient’s bedside. Therefore, the toe area of our shoes gets a lot of wear and get worn out quickly. So far there has been no sign of even a permanent indent in the toe box as the material is quick to keep its shape and integrity.
The shoelaces are also easily tied up and there is no fussing with multiple eyelets as the Apollos are easy in and easy out. One thing I will say is the shoelace on one of the shoes has come undone on its own once or twice, but this has been remedied by a double knot on that shoe.
I have also found the shoes to be true to size. I am a solid 8.5 women’s, and the 8.5 women’s/7.5 men/s shoe fits me perfectly. The width of the shoe is great, but I have found my toes sometimes feel a little cozy by the end of the day. Like all nurses, my feet tend to swell at the end of shift. When this happens, I’ve simply adjusted the shoelaces and adjusted my foot a bit and all is well again. This tends to happen only when I’m on day 3 of 3 shifts in a row however, so I am confident in saying this would happen with any shoe after 3, 12-hour shifts in a row.
All-in-all, these shoes have far surpassed my expectations, and I have recommended them to all my nursing colleagues. The other huge bonus is that these shoes are eco-conscious and kinder to our environment, so you can feel good IN the shoes and ABOUT wearing them. 10/10 would recommend 😊
